Corrections & Update Log

If a formula, conversion, assumption, or explanation is wrong, we want a reproducible report. Material corrections are listed here so returning users can see what changed.

How to report an issue

  1. Copy the calculator URL and note whether US or metric units were selected.
  2. List every value entered, including waste, density, coverage, or package size.
  3. Include the displayed result and your expected result.
  4. If the disagreement concerns a product, include its current manufacturer data sheet or label.

Email the report to support@buildercal.com. Do not send private plans, payment data, or identity documents.

How reports are handled

We first reproduce the issue, then separate arithmetic errors from differences in product assumptions. Confirmed errors are corrected in the calculator and related explanation. If both results are valid under different products or site conditions, the input or limitation is clarified rather than declaring one universal number.

Product assumptions and unit handling review

  • Corrected metric fence calculations so standard post spacing is not converted twice.
  • Subtracted gate openings from fence panel and picket quantities.
  • Made bundles per roofing square adjustable for products that require more than three bundles.
  • Unified topsoil ton and bag estimates around one editable density.
  • Replaced fixed tile, sod, paver, paint, drywall, and laminate coverage assumptions with editable inputs where appropriate.
  • Added per-tool review dates, assumptions, limitations, and supporting references.

What is not logged separately

Spelling, layout, accessibility labels, broken links, and other changes that do not alter the meaning of an estimate may be fixed without an individual entry. The reviewed date on a tool may change after a full check even when its formula remains the same.
